As his face reddened throughout the contest, and viewers worried Coughlin would suffer frostbite, the Jersey/A coach never reached for additional clothing. Coughlin toughed it out, honoring the immutable law: Cold Coach = Victory. And yea, verily, victory came to pass. McCarthy seemed afraid of the weather, and seeming afraid sends the wrong message to your team.

Cis' blog roundup - Friday

I offered to help keep things at a slow idle when I saw that DFO was coming back to the blog multiple times a day while he was supposed to be on vacation. Nevertheless, this article is a very timely piece of perspective considering some of the problems we've had this week.

Fortunately, this group has been, for the most part, very understanding and supportive in Dave's absence. According to the story, though, not all bloggers are quite so fortunate. Romenesko hasn't had a vacation in 7 years. That just ain't right.

'Vantage' has some fascinating moments

"Vantage Point" is three-quarters of a crackling thriller. Then the last part falls apart and you leave the theater feeling rather cheated.

The title refers to the way in which the story is told. Criminals, an innocent bystander, a political victim, mobile TV reporters and Secret Service agents reveal the minutes leading up to and, gradually, those after, until it all comes together at the end of a blockbuster chase.

It begins as the U.S. president (William Hurt) drives into a Spanish plaza to deliver a speech that launches an international conference to draw up a treaty to end terrorist attacks. Gun shots ring out, followed minutes later by an explosion.

One man says he's a policeman but his rush to the podium makes him suspicious. A man on vacation following his marital breakup (Forest Whitaker) believes his camera has captured the chief executive's assassin.
