| Jenice Armstrong: Rocawear picks Philly writer
PHILLY-BASED novelist Daaimah S. Poole deserves a shoutout, most recently for her recognition by Rocawear, the hip-hop-clothing giant. Poole, whose latest book is "All I Want Is Everything" (Kensington, $14.95), was selected after submitting a video on which she talks about her struggles as a teenage, single mother who landed a major publishing deal without even owning a computer. A graduate of Overbrook High, Poole used to type on the computers in Temple University's library until closing time. I got to know Poole (who was discovered by literary whiz Karen E. Quinones Miller) after editing her first book, "Yo Yo Love." A spokeswoman for Rocawear says Poole will be featured on the Web site www.Iwillnotlose.org. In addition to Poole, Jay-Z's I Will Not Lose Campaign is spotlighting singer Ciara and Nicole Paultre-Bell, fiancee of Sean Bell, who was killed in a hail of 50 bullets on the eve of his wedding after leaving a New York strip bar.

I'm fairly sure that this is not open source software. My reasoning for stating this, since I have yet to see anything even close to Express Scribe, in the open source world as of yet. Much like MainActor is to those who want entry level software for decent video editing, I see Express Scribe as filling this same need, and perhaps even hitting a more important piece of the Linux puzzle. read more iTALC promotes learning on a classroom network iTALC, or Intelligent Teaching and Learning with Computers, is a didactical tool designed to assist teachers. Despite its name, the tool itself isn't a learning environment. It's meant to let teachers control their students' computers in a computer-driven classroom setting. Thanks to its powerful remote desktop control features, simple setup, and lack of cost, it's a potential remote assistance tool for any type of network.

Posted in: General Software Infrastructure Web Technology Google Innovation The biggest thing this week in the world of Web software has been offline access, but it remains to be seen whether this is a real game changer or just a must-have addition that closes gaps with desktop software. Rudd acts to ease home burden
If you choose to overspend on your credit cards, buy new cars, TVs, gadgets when you don't need it, it should be those rates that go up. But one proviso. Houses or income from rentals cannot be used as collateral for obtaining credit where it does not benefit the upkeep or improvement of the property. Any gains must be ploughed back into the mortgage (the banks will hate that). Why should mortgage holders pay for masses of irresponsible idiots that just cannot stop spending on credit? Do that, Ruddy and I may change my opinion of you. Anything else and it is merely more media tarting on your behalf. Posted by: Mark B of Brisbane 12:25pm March 03, 2008 Comment 129 of 225 .
